Why Choose Us

Our Mission

To provide a safe loved and learning environment, that is a home from home. Where children can explore, learn, play and grow to their full potential.

Cowplain Day Nursery

Our ethos

To be an inclusive and happy environment, which enables our children to develop into confident lifelong learners. We promote British Values, so children have respect for themselves and others. With our parents we aim to develop children with a sense of their own individual skills and strengths.

Our values

Having good relationships with parents. To listen and value all opinions. Respect each other. Achieve and excel. To shape young minds of the future.

Our Nursery

Physical play is a key focus for the nursery and developing Gross motor and fine manipulative skills is achieved by the substantial use of our environment both inside and outside.

Learn more about each of our areas by clicking below.

Joey’s field is a nature reserve and outside classroom located in the nearby infant school. Here the children can really explore the natural world and their environment by taking part in activities such as nature trails, den building and pond dipping all in a safe environment. The classroom allows for lots of creative activities using natural resources they have found whilst the tunnels and hills continue to support all the children’s physical development.

Our mark making and writing area is resourced with a wide range of high quality mark making tools and equipment. We use children’s current interests to enhance mark making opportunities and encourage all children to explore marks and how they are made, developing those all important pre-writing skills.

Maths and problem solving are available throughout the nursery, however the maths area provides opportunities for exploration of shape, space, measure and developing and understanding of numbers and their uses. The resources give opportunities for sorting by shape, size and colour as well as recognising patterns giving children the skills they need to make connections and solve all kinds of problems.

The centres spacious sports hall provides the perfect place for the children to let off steam.

Here they can choose from a variety of play equipment such as stepping stones, balance beams, bikes and balls. We have a large parachute that we use for group circle games which helps the children to co-operate with one another.

The nursery has the highest quality role play area with its solid wood kitchen and dressing up units. The children love to plan this into whatever their theme e.g. we had beach café, an aeroplane and even a dentist!

Our Cosy corner is filled with bright colourful cushions ready for those children who want to relax in comfort. They can look at one of our many good quality books, sit and have a quiet chat with their friends or just have some quiet time to themselves or a little rest. There are plenty of teddies for cuddles & snuggles and a cd player available to play some lovely relaxing music.

Messy play contributes enormously to the development of a child’s cognitive and creative abilities. It allows a child to explore their senses by providing the opportunity to pour, mix, squeeze and squelch materials not normally available to them. Also, not having to produce something particular, leaves a child free to explore all sorts of possibilities. It taps into a child’s curiosity about the world around them and feeds their irresistible urge to try new things out and experiment.

At Cowplain Day Nursery we feel that meal times should be a relaxed, happy and sociable time. The children are encouraged to make independent choices when selecting there snacks from the range of healthy and nutritious food we offer.

We want to make sure every child gets an excellent start to their education. We use what your child already knows and their experiences at home to plan what they will learn while they are with us. We help them to try new things, ask for help when they need it, and learn by making mistakes. Our goal is to make sure they have the confidence and independence to learn and explore.
